Staithes

As you walk down the hill towards Staithes you’ll see the largest fishing port along the north east coast, it almost feels like you’re walking back in time as you see the fisherman’s cottage roofs hugging the cliff and the boats bobbing in the harbour.

There is still some great fishing to be had here and you can head out with local fisherman Sean for a day who will share his wealth of local knowledge and experience about the area realstaithes.com  For any keen photographer it’s a must see and we’d recommend visiting early in the morning to catch the sunrise when you get the most magical glow across the harbour. Staithes has a thriving arts community which is celebrated in the annual Staithes Festival every September www.staithesfestival.com.
