The main entrance leads to an inner hallway where a giant ordnance survey map of the local area makes for an interesting talking point, perfect for planning walking routes and recapping on recent explorations.

Living Space & Mezzanine

Set on the first floor overlooking the market square, the living area is exquisitely furnished. Taking centre stage is a magnificent silver chandelier that came out of The throne room in Bishop Auckland Castle. Original artwork of the North York Moors by Laura Rich makes a dramatic statement, while tactile textiles and beautiful fabrics, including Mulberry, Linwood and Manuel Canovas to create a sumptuous space for relaxing.

The OLED TV is perfectly placed to watch your favourite movies from the comfy sofa or to catch up on the morning news whilst enjoying breakfast at the kitchen island. And a contemporary gas fired wood stove makes for a cosy corner feature.

A specially commissioned spiral staircase leads to the mezzanine, which offers a second sitting area with a sofa, chairs and a second OLED TV with bluetooth headphones. It also provides the option of a third bedroom, as the sofa converts into a most comfortable double bed.

Kitchen & Dining

Open to the living area, this boasts a sociable layout cleverly designed, incorporating a bar-style dining table, as well as integrated Miele appliances, the kitchen is styled with on-trend deep navy units, offset by copper handles and a mirrored splashback. Everything is so close at hand, it’s a pleasure to cook up a hearty breakfast or a tasty supper in this dream kitchen, without feeling cut off from the rest of the group.

Pheasant Suite

The Pheasant Suite is a wonderfully light, beautifully furnished bedroom with open views across the square. The softest of linens adorn the handmade bed, produced by artisan makers, Harrison Spinks, using Yorkshire wool, cashmere, Herdwick wool, silk, mohair, homegrown flax, hemp and 100% recyclable contour Cortec springs.  Colourful fabrics add pops of colour in the soft furnishings and the little window seat is the perfect spot for peeking out across the market square.

The opulent en-suite has a bath with a shower over, a WC and a basin, and there’s the added treat of a built-in TV at the foot of the tub!

REVIEWS

We love to hear back from our guests to find out their experience with Beautiful Escapes.

April 2024
Having recently visited ‘The Pheasant’ in Helmsley, I wanted to write and thank you for the wonderful time we had. The accommodation was SO lovely – it didn’t have the empty feel that rentals sometimes do and the interiors were incredible – a real treat. Helmsley was really beautiful and the parkland behind the castle was wonderful. The deli opposite was perfectly placed too.
Hopefully, we can return to the area – there is so much to see and the countryside is beautiful.
Many thanks for your help with our booking, the service from your company was excellent!
