THE LOCAL AREA

Sandsend – The picturesque village of Sandsend lies on Yorkshire’s heritage coastline, between Runswick Bay and Whitby, you can enjoy a lovely walk along the beach to Whitby. There are fine views down the coast towards the romantic ruins of Whitby Abbey which is said to be the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

Sandsend beach is popular with fossil hunters, fishermen and walkers.  In summer an area of the beach is zoned off for swimming.

There are plenty of beachside cafes, restaurants and a smattering of independent shops to explore.

April 2023

We had the best time at Woodbine Cottage. The cottage was immaculate and so tastefully furnished. Lots of little details really helped our holiday to be special including the underfloor heating, the position so close to the beach, comfy beds and the little outside area ( when the sun came out! ) The beach was great for dog walking every morning. What a lovely place.

We have recommended the cottage to friends and hope one day to be back ourselves. The walk to Whitby was great fun and we also enjoyed eating at the Hart Inn and would recommend the fish platters for starters.
The service from Beautiful Escapes was excellent.

April 2023

This was a last minute Easter getaway for the family and I was delighted to find Woodbine Cottage. It was our first trip to the Yorkshire Coast and it won’t be our last.

The cottage is fabulous, just like something out of an interiors magazine. It is home from home and styled beautifully.

The location was perfect and it was nice to be just outside of Whitby. There are some lovely places to visit and Lynne left a helpful guidebook for us too. The fantastic beach is just across from the cottage and our dog really enjoyed a daily swim.

I would highly recommend a visit to Sandsend and in particular Woodbine Cottage, you won’t regret it!

Sandra and family

I stayed at Woodbine Cottage in Sandsend with my dog for a week in Sept 2022 and already have 2 further bookings planned this year. The owners Lynne & Darryl are fabulous hosts and have decorated and furnished the cottage beautifully. Excellent location opposite the beach and just a few steps away from the welcoming Hart Inn. Cosy, comfortable, with everything you need for a stress free break. Lovely patio at the back of the cottage where you can enjoy a glass of wine. Spacious area at the front to watch the world go by.Sandsend is indeed my favourite place in the U.K. and Woodbine Cottage is a beautiful home over 3 floors with stunning views.I’m very much looking forward to going to stay there again.SharonGreater Manchester
