Butler’s Cottage is a beautiful honey stone cottage set in 80 acres of private woodland on the edge of the Raithwaite Estate in the seaside village of Sandsend which boasts one of the most spectacular beaches on the Yorkshire coast. The cottage is beautifully appointed with plenty of space for relaxing, open plan living area with log burner and a well equipped kitchen. The garden is fully enclosed, has lovely seating areas and a large lawned area. It offers a restful place to while away an afternoon with a good book or simply soak up the wild life all around. There is a large terrace too, perfect for al fresco dining.
Just a short stroll from the cottage, head towards the beach for a healthy promenade walk North towards the Hart pub in Sandsend village and some lovely pub grub or turn South and you head straight into the famous fishing port of Whitby with its atmospheric history, and world beating fish and chips.
The beach is a dream for picnics, sandcastle building, kite flying – or just staring out into the wild blue yonder! It’s a great sandy expanse where you are able to walk right along from Sandsend village into Whitby at low tide. At Sandsend there are two beach café’s for your early morning breakfast latte and bacon butty or something more substantial throughout the day.
The beach is a five minute walk from the cottage and is available to dog walkers all year round – a small section at Sandsend village is out of bounds in the summer.
Head inland to discover the wild beauty of the North York Moors – a walker’s paradise.
Children aged 10 years and over and babes in arms are welcome.
*Building and excavation works are currently taking place at the entrance to the Raithwaite Estate
