REVIEWS

We love to hear back from our guests to find out their experience with Beautiful Escapes.

September 2024

We had a lovely stay at Sunflower Cottage, which was our second time there, the first being Feb 2023.  The property was still very well kept and there were no signs of extra wear and tear since the first stay.  It was lovely to sit out in the garden on the few sunny days we had and equally as nice to shelter inside from the couple of wet days we experienced.  The property is extremely comfortable and very well equipped and really does feel like a home from home.

The area is beautiful, and we enjoyed several long morning walks exploring the valley.   You don’t need to go far to have a great time.  A short walk to visit Ampleforth Abbey is a must, the Visitor Centre is very interesting, and the Tea Room is great.  We had a couple of lovely meals at the White Heart and also at the Fairfax Arms so these are highly recommended as is The Star Inn at Harome.

Kind regards

Richard

August 2024

The property was lovely , nicely decorated , clean and well maintained with all the amenities you would need and  wish for ,  in addition, some little extra touches that go a long way – welcome basket , books and local information , and logs and kindling for the wood burner should you need it to name but a few.
The property is very well positioned to visit the local area and further afield should you wish , from the village itself with a great coffee shop and pub , The White Horse , where the food was amazing , to nearby Helmsley and other pretty villages to the coastal towns of Scarborough and Whitby.
Booking with Beautiful Escapes was quick and easy and the information on the website accurately described the property and the pre arrival information was extremely detailed and informative. Any communication was responded to quickly.

July 2024

We had a very relaxing stay at Sunflower Cottage. The layout and the decor in particular were really conducive to a very homely feel and meant that coming ‘home’ after a long walk or a day out was a pleasure. We’ve stayed in many, many cottages and Sunflower Cottage was one of the best equipped we’ve been to.

We really enjoyed the area and there was so much to do and explore that we’ll definitely return to Yorkshire and would use Beautiful Escapes again in the future.

Kind regards

Christmas 2023

We had the best time, the house was so beautifully organised and equipped, I can’t thank you enough for the Christmas decorations and the hospitality.
The village of Ampoleforth is probably one of the most friendly villages I have ever visited in UK, people are so nice and the local coffee shop makes the best pancakes for breakfast. Hemsley is so close and it’s such a treat, 5 minutes by car. We would love to visit again and see the area in the summer months.
Thank you for accepting our booking and organising everything for us. We had the best Christmas together with our dogs, everyhwere so pet friendly we felt always welcomed.

July 2023

Our holiday at Sunflower Cottage was all we had hoped for. Having visited the local area on several occasions we were looking for a comfortable cottage that would accommodate 4 adults easily and not feel like a downgrade on our own home. The cottage was well furnished and had large rooms to cook, eat or just relax after a days exploring and the west facing garden was a real sun trap for the afternoon and evening barbecue.

Ampleforth village is pretty and the amenities are very good. The White Swan does good food, the real star of the village is the cafe Hearts of Ampleforth. So good that we sometimes forgot that we were supposed to be self-catering.

The village has some marvellous country lanes to cut across the countryside for visits to local attractions, much more enjoyable than heading for the main routes.

The booking process and customer service have all been very good and easy to use, we will use beautiful escapes next time, both for the quality of the cottages and the locations that they cover.

Wonderful holiday, thanks again.
